Reported samples of saltation variant PJ.2.1 doubled during the week to 92, with further samples from across North America and Spain. New Brunswick has reported a chain of recent samples. 2 of the samples reported from the US were International Travellers, arriving from Germany and Cuba.

Variant Hunter Ryan Hisner (who first spotted PJ.2.1) highlighted a new sample from New York with the advantageous Spike A475V mutation.
