The quality of the final links depends heavily on the quality of the initial brief. A vague instruction such as “build links to our homepage” gives a campaign very little direction. A useful brief should explain what the site offers, who it serves, which pages matter most, and what kind of references would be genuinely helpful to readers.

1. Target website and priority pages: List the homepage, product pages, service pages, category pages, and important resources. Do not assume every campaign should point to the homepage. 2. Primary topics: Describe the subjects the site wants to be associated with. Include related terms, customer questions, and commercial themes. 3. Audience and intent: Explain whether the target readers are beginners, technical buyers, local customers, enterprise teams, or another group. (6/45)
