Recently, many people started expressing concerns and not so positive opinions about the announcement that Linux Mint's team will have longer development cycle. Actually, this can have good outcomes for Mint users.
Linux Mint has a smaller team compared to many other distros, so it means that optimizing development cycle is reasonable step and should not worry anyone. Developing good software takes time and requires people.
Having more time to focus on improving the system would result in better performance, less bugs and simply better user experience. Is it worthy to dedicate more time for this? Absolutely yes.
Software development cycle, like product development, that is characterized by more time dedicated to it always leads to better results.
And if someone is worried about the future of the project, then I suggest taking a look at how to contribute to Linux Mint's development.

Don't be worried. Longer development cycle gives more time to do better work.
PS I'm not affiliated with Linux Mint team.
