Logitech bricked my favorite headset because they pushed a firmware update without asking that failed to install. The headset was working perfectly fine, and now the receiver is bricked. Out of warranty by a few months when it happened too.

    ``` if warranty == “expired” then brick() end ```
    And this is why consumer protection laws are so important. What if auto manufacturers did that. Warranty expired? "send the update that causes misfires or leaves the interior lights on and drains the battery"
    This feels like you should still be able to require them to replace or fix it. It would be like them coming into your home, accidentally stepping on it and then saying, "oops, too bad it's out of warranty." It's too bad that small claims is probably more expensive than just paying to replace it.
    What the Hell could it possibly ever even need a firmware update *for?!* The vast majority of headsets aren't even physically capable of having firmware (because they connect using 3.5mm analog audio jacks), let alone receiving an update for it!
