@leo Hmm, is membership required? In my hackspace, there's an open day every week where anyone can come in to hack on things, use tools etc.. Also very hackspace-specific and might differ but, in ours, membership fees can be reduced significantly in exceptional situations (yours would qualify). It's worth talking to the people there. It's also likely somone in that community owns an unused power supply or knows where to get one. They might also have a broken one you could repair.
