Hot take: I think the Tandy 1000 line ends up being the most important IBM compatible because it held the line long enough for machines capable of beating the Amiga to show up. It was relatively cheap, had decent (for the time) sound and graphics, ran most IBM PC apps. It just needed to hold out long enough for the final generation of MS-DOS machines to have VGA/SVGA and SoundBlaster.
