So I have some of those 1976 official 92.5% silver Montreal Olympics coins teen me bought with his garbage truck money.
Now it's 50 years later I wonder how that decision went?
I forget what I paid but I earned like $2 or $3 an hour and I remember they were only just in my price range.
Oh good, Wikipedia has the deets. CAD
$5 Coin [22.478 g Ag]: $8.00 (1976) = $42.50 (2026)
$10 Coin [44.955 g Ag]: $15.75 (1976) = $83.67 (2026)
2026 Melt value:
$5: $46.61 (+9.7%)
$10: $93.22 (+11.4%)

It was my older brother telling me how silver was getting scarcer and it would go way up in price in the not distant future. Film, electronics, everyone wanted silver. So if I could time travel the 50 years of benefits back to 1976 and my bankrupt-ass teen self, it'd come to like $13 1976 CAD for a $5 and $10 coin so like a carton of smokes money.
