When we see Republican officials shooting down redistricting bills and handing elections to the Democrats, understand that this is deliberate. The neoconservatives have taken over the DNC completely. They will occasionally throw out an israel-skeptic remark, but assure donors behind closed doors that they aren't serious. On the flip side, Republicans under 50 are done with Tel Aviv. There is a very real chance of taking over the party, and the GOP establishment is fighting a rearguard action to burn the party down before this happens rather than reclaim it.
