I just remembered when my grandma read Bambi to my sister and me when we were little. She burst into tears so badly my sister and I had to comfort her. And we absolutely didn't understand why. Kids, huh?

@derthomas My mum actually chided me for not crying when I first watched the disney version as a child. Apparently I'm a heartless monster.

@derthomas There is a lovely version of the original novel, illustrated recently by one Benjamin Lacombe. For those who are interested, I can really recommend it. I found it in a library.
