I feel like you can bolt a lot of features onto the C language, even if the syntax of doing so may not be as nice as other languages. Really, I kind of wish C macros were as capable as lisp macros just so you could import or discard whatever language features you wanted (or use different implementations that fit your use-case or sensibilities better).
