“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ben Morea (1941-2026), one of the most profound, courageous, and singular comrades to emerge from the 1960s revolutionary movement. Ben died Saturday in New Mexico while preparing a prayer ceremony for his grandson, who is currently incarcerated and facing trial. It is impossible to summarize the deep watermark Ben has left on anarchist and indigenous movements: from the founding of Black Mask and UAW/MF, to his years of horseback banditry, to raising dozens of adoptive family members, to his return to the art world in recent years.
