@semanticist @adam A friend of mine at uni did his final year Chemistry project classifing oils using their IR absorbtion characterisrics using a "neural network" he found on a news group: it fitted on a floppy disk and ran on a 386.

@decadecity @adam Fair point - I guess it's the complexity of task you can do now without requiring an entry on TOP500.
