So, there was one of those threads on Reddit that seems to be a frequent cause of transatlantic confusion. It was about the use of they/them/their for single person pronouns, which has been normal in written and spoken English for hundreds of years. It's very much normal in the UK and I was taught when I was taught to write in school over 40 years ago as the correctly approach if you do not know, or do not wish to assign gender.
