@db I got in the habit long ago to reserve addresses for every device I know is mine, so I guess without knowing it, I've sidestepped this issue entirely. Although, I had to reset one light last year to get it to honor an NTP time change. It was on a dusk to dawn setting and somehow got a corrupted local cache and also jumped into a different time zone. As I typed that, I'm thinking how absurd it is that a light bulb has a damned data cache in the 1st place.
