I've now jailbroken a Kindle paperwhite successfully. Only took me an hour so I could get my own screensaver on it. 🙃
Sadly, my favorite kindle 4's screen was damaged in a recent trip and my old paperwhite's screen has a small crack on it as well. And I was exhausted and not looking carefully when I tried to rebuy a kindle 4 with buttons on ebay and instead got a first gen kindle touch. 🤦♀️
Fortunately, kindles are only $20-40 on ebay. Unfortunately, I don't really need FOUR of them, right now, even jailbroken? And the mussed screens really bother me. I keep forgetting and trying to unsmudge them.
Pondering whether I should set one out in the little library as its own lending object. Or wondering if the local phone place would repair a screen for less than $30. Probably not?

I pondered installing KOReader on the paperwhite since it's at least a touch device, but last I tried that, KOReader didn't seem to organize books the way Calibre does. It wouldn't easily show me a list of all my books on the main screen. After realizing that (and how poorly it worked on the non-touchscreen kindle I was using), I gave up. But maybe it's worth playing with now.
