@gregpak It was started by one that claimed it was nominally "decentralized", then proceeded to allow it to become homes for nasty people.
Billionaire left, it still isn't decentralized, and no has done anything about the nasty people using it.
I think Dorsey started it because he said, "Shit, we need a Mastodon killer!"

@dancingtreefrog For what it's worth, servers like Blacksky and Northsky are actually starting to make the promise of decentralization for ATProto become more real! I switched over to Blacksky (using their myatproto server for non-Black users) because I don't love/trust a lot of the Bluesky admin's decisions, and it's been pretty great -- I can interact with all the accounts/posts the same way I did when I was on the Bluesky server! Work in progress, but it's moving!
