Guess what!? That actual care from Cambridge for bike safety has led to Hampshire Street seeing >80% of vehicles at rush hour being bikes. This is literally decreasing congestion, you would need to widen the street to be >10 car lanes to get that many people through. (it was a chilly and damp spring evening today leaving Boston City Hall)
