@drakonic @AmyZenunim They're not denigrating it per se, but, notice the reaction of the OP, how being told to instead of doing whats fun to them, their reason for starting, to do the thing that is extremely helpful for proper artisanship. Notice the disappointment. A statement of "do it, do it badly", "you may feel bad about your art, thats okay, feel, and continue regardless", "here are some resources on manga specifically" and "if you have trouble or want to improve your artisanship go check out these more general resources" should be more helpful for getting someone into art.
