Story time. I got some dumbarse throwing the same dumb “language = allegiance” association towards me once. Because I mentioned my cats, and one of them is called Siegfrieda. It turned out like this:

* [Anta, antes de eu responder] vç eh nasista?
* [Eu] Não. Odeio nazista. E o nome dela não tem nada a ver com nazismo.
* [Anta] mais soh nasista fala alemao
* [Eu] Ah, davveeeero? Allora dimmi quanti amerindi tu te hai ucciso oggi, testa di cazzo.
* [Anta] fala portugueis caralho
* [Eu] Seguindo tua lógica, se alemão é língua de nazista, então português é língua de quem genocida índio. Portanto, você é um genocida e merece ser tratado como tal. Agora vai pro bloqueado, paspalho imundo.

* [Me] Nope. I hate the Nazi. And her name has nothing to do with Nazism.

* [Me, in Italian] Oh reeeeally? Then tell me how many Amerindians you killed today, shithead.
* [Muppet] speak Portugese dammit
* [Me] Following your logic, if German is a language for Nazi, then Portuguese is a language for those who genocide Amerindians. Thus you’re a mass murderer and deserve to be treated as such. Now get blocked, you filthy muppet.
And yes, I was that pissed.

Great story. I love the switch to Italian in the middle and the point you made back with it. It’s simply chef’s kiss. I’m also amused by how much of the original I was able to make out accurately, although I don’t speak Portuguese or Italian. The only parts I missed were the specifics of the insults, but I accurately picked up that they were insults. Are either of those words for “muppet” used to refer to the Jim Henson style Muppets? Or are they general insults and the English term is an easy one to confer the sentiment? If I ever end up discussing Sesame Street with someone from Brazil or something, I’d like to get it right.
