@sean_ae @trashpandaqc @emenel @tsrono the entire concept of "middlemen" and "removing the middleman" seems like a completely disingenuous sales con. it is a rather gross reduction of real human beings fulfilling meaningful roles. it is not right that some individuals got labeled expendable with the "middleman" boogeyman term because it reduces their life's work, their contribution to a scene, their livelihood, etc, to something to always and only be detested. in fact, that labor is real, requires its own forms of talent and is critical. once upon a time "DIY" didn't seem to be a genre term. it really just meant, "i like fixing my own stuff, like the (non-metaphorical) plumbing"
