as a domestic refiner, they can pay higher prices than euros or asians just due to the fact that they do not have to ship overseas and can utilize pipelines. supply isn't the issue. according to the CEO the higher prices are projected to make the refinery itself a couple hundred million dollars more profitable as they sell the supply of distillate they don't need, somewhat offsetting operational losses

Fair enough, I could be wrong. Either way they'd be idiots to use that to subsidise their flights rather than cancel them and just sell the fuel.
