I pinged Vaishnavi Murthy a couple of days ago about this, I guess you’re already in touch with.
FWIW, we follow a simple naming convention for Malayalam glyphs (can be used for all/most Indic scripts as well). k1 for ക, k2 for ഖ, etc. — a screenshot attached.
Conjunct glyph names logically combine the base glyph names (k1k1 for ക്ക, for e.g.). The complete list can be seen at https://rachana.org.in/docs/rachana-glyphlist.pdf

@rajeesh @frankrolf @justvanrossum @lianghai FWIW, I contributed my list to the https://github.com/schriftgestalt/GlyphsInfo (after indeed consulting with Vaishnavi Murthy), so these names will be available in Glyphs app and Fontra soon.

@rajeesh@typo.social @frankrolf@typo.social @justvanrossum@typo.social @fontra@typo.social I used to be quite interested in this naming convention, but now I see it’s an overgeneralization of the 5x5 matrix and over-optimized for conciseness. The whole numbering logic is rather arbitrary (just look at how vowel letters and signs are named).
