@perlman @funcrunch nazis want to destroy your marketplace of ideas. and anything good about free speech for that matter. they're parasites. giving them space is just letting them fester. america has lost this battle and is where it is now precisely because they were too afraid to show nazis the door and tried endlessly to pretend like their ideas had any value.

@perlman @funcrunch I see where you're coming from, but you might wanna take a step back and think about this one. Given that nazis do, in fact, intend to hurt and kill people, I don't think just "feeling safe" is what's at stake. There's genuine danger to people's actual safety, not just their feelings. Likewise, I don't think stopping them is about removing "ideas one doesn't like." It's not a matter of taste. If someone starts waving a machine gun around in a public place, you don't confiscate it because you just don't like guns, you confiscate it because they're threatening people with violence, and it's important to stop the violence before it becomes real. Nazis are not in places like Substack to share their ideas and discuss things in good faith. They are there to further their goal of actually, physically hurting folks. Were it a real, literal marketplace, would you set aside stalls for people who are only there to incite a mob to tear the marketplace apart? I don't really think you have that obligation.
