Like if Japan ever completely closes its borders and I still want to go there for some reason, and citizenship/permanent residency/visa by way of spouses is still a thing for some reason, it is cheaper for me to accrue tons of money to then marry someone, than to accrue several times further to buy my way in. The whole situation is just bizarre and makes me think about how the world would be like if people were forced to be in their country of birth - either it'd result in revolts or just mass death from conditions. Or some weird existence where everyone worships their leadership because said leadership negotiated some agreement whatever that secured bla bla food and exports which prevents the economy from killing everyone, all kingship style

I don't know. I guess I just have to get invited as a worker so that I don't have to be a millionaire. Better somehow accrue new skills solidly in my 30s and 40s, while also knowing how to be a good immigrant. Maybe you'll say instead of seeking citizenship somewhere, I should be content with my Malaysian citizenship. Sure, but there's a lot of rumours that the current government will not last and power will all go to insufferable (= fascist) compatriots. Citizenship won't be worth that much then, if every city ends up with the economic conditions of Kuching
