I'm using Gamenative on ARM and it's pretty amazing. Rocknix getting Steam working is also seriously awesome. I will keep on using it, but I think people are talking about ARM being "the future", and I used to believe this like 10 years ago, and no longer do. The first reason is that for games, the GPU matters way more than the CPU, and AMD and NVidia have the best, and these are also largely tied to the x64 ecosystem. NVidia do have an ARM chip, but ironically their CPUs are generally terrible enough that it's been semi-niche (aside from the Switch). The second reason is that a gaming handheld is mostly used for gaming. ARM is great when the CPU is not doing anything, but running flat-out, x64 is more power efficient. It's similar to the concocted example by Top Gear where a Prius goes flat-out through a course and a V8 Diesel just chases it. In that context, the Prius uses more fuel. Games are increasingly hitting the CPU. Heck, even the Steam Deck's 4-core 8-thread part is no longer fast enough for many games, while the GPU is actually keeping up more or less. An ARM 4-core is just not going to compete easily. The best you get is longer standby times.

This cluster competition looking at performance per watt demonstrates what I'm talking about. When running (and, for other reasons, while idle), the AMD cluster is way more efficient. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjmKpDNsTa8&t=499s
