@bakuninboys
At the time I didn't know any better. Was an older and wiser colleague who showed me the key to "upward management".
It's surprisingly common to find such people at the top. They are more determined to fight for such positions. More driven. People like myself end up finding less stressful paths to pursue.
My direct boss in that organisation was such a lovely soul. He taught me so much. He gave me trust in such a way that I was compelled to honour it. Taught me that just because I don't know how to solve a specific problem today, does not mean we won't solve it tomorrow. He taught me to teach myself. I will forever be grateful for the time I spent in that team.
Some things we have to learn the hard way though. And right now, it's not just the US that will be facing some difficult lessons. The entire planet will suffer for the sake of this man's ego, and more importantly the Republicans who enabled it.

@ewen yeah this is a good call out: Trump by himself is just a lone arsehole. Republicans tilled and fertilised the soil for him to take root, but Democrats watered him in. Even today, if you ask a bunch of the democratic establishment and leadership: Bernie or Trump, a lot would pick Trump.
