@congusbongus @tattlemuss Film and TV are non interactive, passive entertainment. Games should be interactive entertainment where the player's actions affects outcomes, but no, far too many games want it to be all about fancy cutscenes where the player has no choice, or where the game must be played in The One True Way. 'Press A at the correct time to see the next quick time event' is no better than Dragons Lair in the 80s

  • @syllopsium @congusbongus yes, this was the situation in 2001. I once worked on a game where the player did no meaningful interaction for the first 10-15 minutes (due to unskippable cutscenes)
