Code of conduct had a good motivation. LLM policies also have a good motivation. But my experience is that there an underlying model of thinking about open source software and "governance" that assumes it is non-optional to carry the Culture War with us wherever we go. I don't believe that model is correct. I'm not saying I won't use CoCs or consider LLM-usage policies in my projects. I am saying that I want to reconsider the overall "deal" and question assumptions about what the need for "governance" of software projects.
