given that myths of changelings likely came about to explain autistic children, I wonder if myths about fae being unable to lie have any connection to the autistic tendency to have an aversion to it especially since, personally, I dislike lying outright but have no problem being deceptive by omission or misleading implication. which is a very fae thing like when telemarketers and scammers call asking for my deadname, I tell them "he's gone" or "he's no longer with us" to imply literal death
