Spent half an hour trying to enable #plymouth on #debian on a Meteor Lake Intel APU. Tried various things such as explicitly setting a plymouth theme, rebuilding initramfs, uninstalling `xserver-xorg-video-intel`, setting `i915.modeset=1`. No luck, and no hints as to why the problem persists, so I guess I'm stuck with a text boot splash.

This stuff is made much harder these days by the dozens of SEO'd slopsites flooding every web search for anything Linux-related. The usual "results before 2023" trick does not work in this case, since the issue is related to 2024 hardware 🫠. Sometimes allow-listing known forums yields good results, but not in this case.
