@wtay @TheEntity @lu_leipzig @downey the point is not "excluding people for their political views" It's more about helping to fight back against a change that is sold to us as inevitable but has huge social and environmental impacts. By not accepting LLM generated code, you help push back against this. See it more akin to supporting renewable energy, instead of burning coal. Or supporting social programs in your area, instead of paying for bigger jails. Join in, and help stop gen-AI.

@wtay@fosstodon.org @TheEntity@social.treehouse.systems @lu_leipzig@troet.cafe @downey@floss.social Imagine someone started using slave labor to fix bugs in open source projects. I would say that it would be dangerous *not* to oppose such contributions no matter the scope or supposed "benefit". You could call this hyperbole, but LLMs have a well documented history of abuse of data workers. So using them is not far removed from that. And besides that, ethical concerns should always be considered in FOSS. Because if not, why are we even doing this?

@wtay@fosstodon.org Ok, but, ah, you wouldn't accept patches copied directly from an incompatible licensed source or proprietary source, so it kinda matters?
