@sequentialsnep It kinda' depends for me. I have an Xbox controller I use on my Linux PC, an 8 bit do that I use on my Mac, a Playstation controller I use with my Steam Deck, and sometimes I switch them around.
The best over all for features has to be the PS5 DualSense. But I find it doesn't like staying connected to my PC sometimes. (everywhere else, it seems fine.) This may be because it's wildly out of date. I don't have a PS5, and they don't make the update software for anything but Windows, so I haven't been able to update it's firmware in years. (The last time it worked with WINE for me.)
Xbox series X controller has better reliability across platforms, but the same issues as the DualSense in that I don't have an Xbox and the update software only works on Windows, so I can't update it.
8BitDo Pro 2 controller is just really good. It's become my favorite because it works with just about everything, it's priced VERY well, and it has 4 selections on the back for different connection types, but you can also use these to switch between up to 4 devices. I bounce it between my Mac, Steam Deck, and Switch at the moment. Works great on all of them.
Just wanted to put this here because just clicking one controller wouldn't really say it all.
