Agree with this and also: promotion doesn't have to mean blasting on social media. You can make your art and give it to one friend, or three. You can leave it for someone to find it. Someone has been tacking poems to light posts in my neighborhood and I love it!
Art is a gift, and the gift must be given, but it needn't be given at scale.

@aworkinglibrary@mstdn.social Somebody's been going around Berkeley leaving little sidewalk medallions that commemorate imaginary events. They're silver, consistent appearance, nicely made. They look official! I just love 'em. I bring people by to show them off when we're in the neighborhood of one. I am always just delighted to discover a new one. This one appeared just recently outside the original Peet's Coffee store at Walnut and Vine.
