@tea the obvious choice would probably be matrix except for the search thing, but matrix servers are a pain in the ass to host
how about a xwiki or mediawiki?
also another advice, enter "awesome " like "awesome selfhosted" into google and a github repo will most likely pop up with a collection of popular approaches and solutions in a markdown file

@alina matrix I've used for a bit and the lack of a good search is the mean turnoff. Specifically the `has:media after:date` and sorting in reverse is what I like about discord. I have considered a wiki, although I don't know how convenient that'd be on different platforms. I do like the interconnectedness of it, and being "forced" to sort things quite well.
