I wish more web accessibility code examples included a section for “this is what you should hear from your screen reader if you did it right.” As someone who doesn’t typically use a screen reader for his own browsing, it’s hard to know what the actual expectations are.

    @smitty Typical screen reader output does not exist. Their adaptability is what makes them so powerful. For most things, check that the role, accessible name and the status/prosperities of an element are conveyed. For example, usually you can hear “accessible name, status, role” (“pause, pressed, button”) but the order can be any depending on user preference and screen reader.
