It's my birthday next week 🎂 Here's what I'd tell 18-year-old me:
Skip chemistry, go straight to CS. Turns out I'm more 👩🏻💻 than 👩🏻🔬 - plus the market for chemists has been declining for over a decade. So even if things seem hard today, it could have been worse!
Oh, and economic history ≠ economics 📚🤦🏻♀️

@cate@hachyderm.io Wasted (most say I used) 5 years 2021–25 studying biology. I am now taking Courses to pivot into DevOps. And, I would absolutely tell my 18-year-old self the same thing. The command line is far more forgiving than the laboratory. Have a brilliant birthday next week!
