Because what we could have is not the institutions to move as the main motor but the artists with influence moving AND bringing in their own scenes/crowds/people in dedicated instances. Like let the emo music scene make their own instance, and the tatoo artist make their own instance, or the DJs, etc. Because then they will be the ones leading collectively the slow (and difficult) evolution of their own infrastructure and culture! The institution could be welcome in, as an account, but not the ones to entirely decide of such evolution, which could invert or-rebalance some power relationships.

@detours_anachroniques @oblomov @NIGHTEN @victor @gahlord @xenophora @neopostmodern I was very inspired by seeing this initiative for example @The_Counterforce (https://the-counterforce.org/), what if a lot of other field where unionizing for similar purposes! talking with their words, their culture and their intention, knowing better than anyone else the materiality of their practices

Totally. I am part of @fediforum because I want to push this perspective forward. Not just businesses, orgs, and institutions. There are many groups and subcultures that belong to the Fediverse but are totally unaware of it. Beyond artists in the broad sense: Italian queer collectives, small artisans who would value a local network beyond technofeudalism, food coops, UNIONS… If we want a social network that belongs to real people, we must start from the margins IMHO EDIT: and local newspapers!!!! I dream of the day https://sanremonews.it will enable the ActivityPub plugin on that shitty bloated WordPress website of theirs.
