@henryseg @csk @jsm28 I stumbled upon this post and am intrigued yet completely ignorant - where would be a good place to start to learn more about this (e.g, book, article, website). I was the English Lit major who took math and physics classes for fun - didn’t have the proficiency and ability to excel deep into the fields but absolutely loved learning about them.

@Wherearemykeys @henryseg @jsm28 One excellent starting point would be Robert Fathauer's book _Tessellations: Mathematics, Art, and Recreation_. Slightly more advanced (but still accessible) is Colin Adams's new book _The Tiling Book_.

@Wherearemykeys @henryseg @csk @jsm28 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aperiodic_tiling is a decent place to start; it covers some of the key history of the problem and is in the process of being updated with the current information. The paper linked above is also very readable; it introduces its jargon gradually. Searching for "Penrose Tiles" will probably also yield some interesting reads.
