Want to archive an etherpad.wikimedia.org pad before the coming database purge? A new frontend for the https://etherpad-backup.toolforge.org tool launched today at #wmhack. Tomorrow I hope to add to the 8000+ pads that have already been saved.

I have a list of ~2000 pads that Addshore found for me in Phabricator. I started archiving them during the showcase at #wmhack yesterday, but that mostly just ended up getting the shared egress IP shadow banned at our CDN edge for 5 minutes. I’ve added some finer grained controls for rate limiting since, but I also decided not to try again until I’m back home on a stable connection.
