I listened to the whole trilogy some years ago when I used to have to drive across states to see my parents. I remember loving it. Same as you though--not only was it hard to remember where one book ended and one began (because the trilogy is more like one book than three stories)--but it was also hard to remember some events since the POV characters are not trying to be heroes and not focused on the world events (though certainly changing them). They're chasing their own smaller goals--some as simple as "survive" and some as shallow as "live in luxury" 😂 I'm loving a reread
