@_jimnelson_@mastodon.social Many years ago, the Noe Valley Voice ran a piece on how the numbered streets in Noe used to have names, replaced with numbers in the 1800s if I recall correctly. For example, Navy Street was renamed 26th Street, which makes the fuss over Army's street renaming sound rather silly to me. Expect it to come up again now that Cesar Chavez has been disgraced in the public eye. #SanFrancisco #Map #Maps #StreetNames #History

    @ChasMusic@ohai.social @_jimnelson_@mastodon.social Also the upper numbered streets used to end at Harrison St, and the Potrero Hill neighborhood had those streets with different names. This is why a lot of them don’t even line up today.
