Hah. Don't let one egomaniac blowhard ruin a perfectly good genre for you; he probably rooted for the Empire and the Vogons.
Annalee Newitz's _The Terraformers_ is really good, BTW. Transhumanist sci-fi, but also anti-corporate AF. I need to follow up on reading Yoon Ha Lee's _Ninefox Gambit_ as well.
