Are there any resources available for locating and disabling on-board SIM cards/GPS in modern vehicles?

Title. I’ve ask mechanic friends and they said to expect in dash features to be busted if you pull the parts, but I suspect Faraday caging it could be a solution. I know there’s only so much to be done about data being collected physically from the vehicle, but at least preventing it from being sent off remotely would be a win.

Depends on the model. I looked into it for mine, and it’s an eSIM, so you can’t just pull a SIM card. If you pull the whole module, you lose other random features, and either need to jump the wiring or something. I would look it up for your specific model of vehicle. Their service manuals are pretty comprehensive. If you can’t disable the module, you can wrap it in shielding.

There’s usually a gas station on the same street as any given dealership. The resources you seek can be easily assembled there.

Look into unhooking the antenna. I know that some of the articles that I read a couple of years ago when I was looking into this myself suggested this to keep the rest of the system working, without it being able to connect and send data.

A little bit of high voltage on the antenna should do it. Not particularly reversible though.
