  • @entreprecariat@post.lurk.org my positive reading of this is that computing is one of the few things that to me still feels at least potentially abundant. even throwaway vapes contain computers that would have been supercomputers a couple of decades ago. because they are so locked down they are basically uninteresting for most purposes and literally discarded, but at the same time it provides so many devices that you can just pick up from the trash, and it's hard to grasp what you *could* do with them if you freed them, meaning free as in software. it's a big *could*, because these things need to be painstakingly reverse-engineered and pried open, but it makes me excited about postmarketOS and projects like that
