As far as I can tell bees do whatever they want. Stay out all night? Sleep in a flower? That is the bees life.

@futurebird Bees do have compulsive pheromones, though. They have to obey a request to deliver royal jelly to their new queen candidates, for an example. It's just that AFAIK, there's no stable managerial bee caste. @minmi
