Things that can all be true at the same time: Most people experience only mild pain or discomfort during this procedure. Some people experience more severe pain during this procedure, sometimes much more severe. Anaesthesia and/or meaningful pain relief should be offered to everyone who undergoes this procedure. Even if only a small number of people experience significant pain, we cannot tell in advance who those people will be, and this is not a risk we need to take. This is a post about IUDs
