There was a really cool moment in today’s bike ride. We sometimes pick up riders at random on our rides, people riding who see us and want to join. So another rider joined us halfway today. When we got t our destination, as we talked, he started pointing at us: “Now I know why you’re here, and you’re here, and you’re here, and you’re here…”.
Thing is, we’re a queer cycling group. And I wasn’t one of the ones pointed at.
@faithisleaping recently spoke of the desire to be invisible sometimes - that, even if we don’t woodwork, the ability to just be a girl is nice. I worry I don’t pass sometimes, that the world is just being polite.
It was nice to just be a girl in a crowd for once - to know I was just seen as a girl in the crowd.
