@andyjennings please enlighten me - why would they drive customers away intentionally?
I could see poor shelf management as a result of skimping on staff in order to keep prices down, but why as a deliberate design choice?

@jadedtech it's expensive to keep stock up all the time. Aldi has a stated policy of "lean" stock control. But it's quite complicated and it may be that they genuinely struggle with this. https://www.thetakeout.com/2109949/aldi-shopping-problem-out-of-stock/
