But I think, the also reported cloudiness was a life-saver for those who couldn't stay indoors. Clouds lessen the heat stress. A table in Vanos et al 2023 shows the unsurvivable combination of temperature and % relative humidity for young and old people, indoors/shaded and outdoors/sun-exposed. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-023-43121-5/tables/2 (only look at the lines starting with Corresponding Tair (°C). The other lines are sciency and a bit confusing. ) Figure 4 in the paper shows the livability-thresholds, meaning, how hot+humid can it get for which activity, from merely sitting to heavy lifting.
