I see white Fediverse is having a "wait, my whiteness isn't irrelevant to my existence, even on the Internet?" moment. And I see a lot of really good advice going around. Not much bad advice. Some advice I haven't seen? Figure out how to change your life so that not being actively antagonstic to your internalized white supremacy costs you something. Because right now, a lot of y'all have a FUCKED up relationship with white supremacy: you feel bad about being forced to participate it with it in your daily life, so go try and learn how you can offset that cost during your off hours. Buddy. You cannot work operating a gas chamber 40+ hours a week and then offset that by sharing some tweets about mutual aid. And you're never gonna stop operating the gas chamber as long as you're more scared of what you'd lose if you stopped, than horrified by what you're doing to folk. And TBH? Coming here and looking toward marginalized users for education and inspiration? That's the emotional opposite of cultivating a sense of horror, which is honestly what y'all need more of. In fact, I'd say, definitionally, anyone who is learning about the Fediverse's whiteness, needs to feel far more horrified, not hopeful.
